Located in Mediona, La Freixeneda is the estate where the Ferrer family legacy was born in 1616.
More than four centuries later, it continues to reflect the values that have guided its history: respect for the land and its origin, tradition, innovation, and a constant pursuit of excellence.
A landscape that defines our wines
Located in the northernmost part of the Penedès, Mediona is one of the most unique wine-growing areas in the region. Its vineyards, surrounded by Mediterranean forests and situated at a higher altitude than the Penedès average, enjoy a cool climate and marked thermal contrasts that promote a slow and balanced ripening of the grapes.
In this privileged environment, we cultivate varieties such as Xarel·lo, Macabeo, Grenache, and Cabernet Sauvignon, which authentically express the character of the land.
Craftsmanship and innovation in the service of origin
Our wines are born from small-scale productions sourced exclusively from our estates, crafted with the utmost respect for the grape, the vineyard, and time.
We combine tradition and innovation through granite eggs, amphorae, and custom-made foudres inspired by traditional Catalan barrels, always with the same goal: to authentically express the character of the terroir and the personality of each vintage.
Wines from Estate
Here are born two of the family’s most personal wines. Josep Ferrer, made from Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon and aged in foudres inspired by traditional Catalan barrels, pays tribute to Pedro Ferrer’s father. Gloria Noguer, dedicated to his mother, is a unique Macabeo wine aged in a granite egg that expresses with purity and elegance the character of this historic estate.
Alongside these flagship wines, La Freixeneda gives rise each year to limited productions and unique projects with their own identity—wines born from experimentation, respect for the terroir, and the desire to explore new ways of expressing the winemaking richness of Mediona.
