Founded in 1937, Orube was born in Rioja Alavesa, at the foot of the Sierra de Cantabria mountains, next to the medieval town of Laguardia.
An enclave where the land defines its character. The mountains act as a natural barrier against the cold, damp north winds, creating a microclimate that has allowed, since its origins, the production of wines with a distinctive personality.
Origin underground
Orube, a name of Basque origin associated with ancestral homes and roots, pays homage to the traditional manor houses of Laguardia.
It was there that the winery’s first wine in Rioja Alavesa was born, in an underground cellar excavated beneath one of these buildings—spaces deeply connected to the wine culture and history of the region.
The terroir that defines us
The confluence of Atlantic and Mediterranean influences, along with calcareous-clay soils, lends identity and uniqueness to vineyards like Finca Los Molinos, located on the slopes of the Sierra de Toloño, in the heart of the Sierra de Cantabria, in Rioja Alavesa.
This climatic and geological balance results in fresh and structured wines, with precise acidity, fine and elegant tannins, and a marked fruit expression, where the Atlantic intensity integrates with Mediterranean maturity and depth.
